Instructions for Authors

Bulletin of the Karaganda University. Economy Series is is a scientific peer-reviewed journal that publishes original research and review articles in the fields of business and economics with focus on innovation and innovative practices. The journal aims to be a platform for quality research on different aspects of innovation in the fields of management, marketing, finance, accounting, economics, and public administration.

Submission Guidelines

Bulletin of the Karaganda University. Economy Series operates under an open access model, and all articles are freely available to the public upon publication. Authors are required to pay an article processing fee (APF) upon acceptance of their manuscript.

All submissions must be made through the Bulletin of the Karaganda University. Economy Series editorial system, accessible via the journal’s website. The system allows authors to track the status of their manuscript throughout the review process.

Manuscripts: All submissions must be original, unpublished, and not under review elsewhere.

Language: Manuscripts should be submitted in English.

Word Limit: Manuscripts should generally be between 5,000 and 8,000 words, including references, tables, and figures.

Article structure: Article should follow standard IMRAD structure. Review articles should use systematic literature review or meta-analysis methodology.

Authors (via corresponding author) should submit at least two files (Title page and Manuscript)

The text should be adhered to the stylistic requirements outlined in the this sample.

1) Title Page: Include the title of the paper and the author(s)’s full names, affiliation, contact details, acknowledgement, data availability statement, and conflict of interest statement (if no conflict of interest, indicate accordingly). This should be submitted separately from the manuscript to ensure anonymity in the review process.

2) Manuscript: Full text of article including Title and Abstract. Authors should ensure their manuscript does not contain identifying information, and citations of the author’s previous work should be anonymized as "Author, year" in both the text and reference list.

Manuscript Formatting

Authors are required to adhere to the following text formatting:

  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 11
  • Line Spacing: 1 (single spacing)
  • Text Alignment: Justified
  • Paragraph Indent: 0.8 cm (Do not use spaces or tabs for indents)
  • Margins: Top and bottom – 25 mm, left and right – 20 mm
  • Headings: Use consistent heading levels, distinguishable through formatting but not numbered.
  • Abbreviations: All abbreviations should be defined at first mention. Avoid using abbreviations in the abstract.
  • Transliteration: When transliterating names or non-English terms, use the appropriate standardized system.

Article Processing Fee (APF)

Upon acceptance of the manuscript, authors will be required to pay an article processing fee. This fee covers the cost of maintaining the open access platform, peer review management, and professional production of the article. The APF details are as follows:

Standard Fee: 40 000 tenge or 80 USD

Discounts/Waivers: Bulletin of the Karaganda University. Economy Series may offer discounts or waivers for authors. To promote diversity among authors, the journal currently does not charge an Article Processing Fee for submissions from authors outside of Kazakhstan

Referencing Style

Bulletin of the Karaganda University. Economy Series requires authors to follow the APA 7th edition style for references. All citations within the manuscript must be formatted according to the APA guidelines. DOIs of publication should be included in references if available.

Cite references within the text by including the author's name and year in parentheses:

  • Negotiation research covers a range of disciplines (Weston, 2018).

When author names are part of the sentence only date appear in parentheses:

  • This finding was later challenged by Ortiz and Patel (2021).

For multiple sources:

  • This phenomenon has been extensively researched (Davies, 2015; Li et al., 2017; McConnell & Ivanov, 2019; Yamada et al., 2020).

Reference list: The reference list should be included at the end of the manuscript and should follow APA 7th edition guidelines.

Ethical Considerations

The journal expects authors to adhere to the highest ethical standards, including:

Originality: Submitted work must be the author’s original work and free from plagiarism.

Data Integrity: All data presented should be accurate, and authors should retain raw data and be prepared to provide it if requested.

Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts of interest, including financial, institutional, or other affiliations that may influence their research.

Human Subjects: For research involving human subjects, authors must include a statement confirming that informed consent was obtained and that the study adhered to ethical standards.

Authors are required to disclose any use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in their research. Misuse of AI for generating content or data without proper validation and oversight will be considered unethical. Any AI use should be transparent and ethical, and should not replace original research and authorship.

JEL Classification

All manuscripts must include Journal of Economic Literature (JEL) classification codes, which help in categorizing the research according to topics within economics and related fields. A list of JEL codes can be found on the American Economic Association's website.

Tables and Figures

  • Tables: Tables should be numbered consecutively and placed within the text, near where they are referenced. Each table must include a title and notes, if applicable. Tables should be in an editable format, not as images.
  • Figures: Figures should also be placed within the text close to their first mention. All figures should be numbered, with a title and a caption that explains the content. Images and figures should be high resolution (minimum 300 dpi).

Footnotes and Acknowledgments

  • Footnotes: Should be used sparingly and reserved for additional explanations or clarifications. Footnotes must be numbered consecutively and placed at the bottom of the page.
  • Acknowledgments: These should be included in a separate section at the end of the manuscript before the references. Authors should acknowledge financial support, institutional backing, or other contributions that influenced the research.
