The role of renewable energy sources in achieving the Sustainable development goal of Kazakhstan

Abstract

Object: The article discusses the instruments of state support for renewable energy sources. The authors sought to propose mechanisms of state support for the development of renewable energy sources in the Republic of Kazakhstan to achieve the goal of sustainable development. Methods: A comparative, theoretical analysis, and the applicable methods. Results: The authors draw attention to the research of scientists on the use of state support tools for the development of renewable energy sources, analyze the main indicators of renewable energy production in Kazakhstan and give recommendations on the use of renewable energy sources in the context of the sustainable development goal. Conclusions: The current system of state support for the development of renewable energy sources has been enshrined in the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan since 2009. State support for the development of renewable energy sources is carried out through the centralized purchase and sale of electricity. For further improvement, it is necessary to consider the possibility of applying tax incentives in the field of renewable energy development: investment tax credit; property tax deduction for citizens who have purchased and installed renewable energy facilities and others.
